Pangong lake is one is the most beautiful lake in India, it is  endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4350 m(14270 ft). It is 134km long in distance and extended form India to china, about 60% of the lake lies in china. The lake is 5-3 km wide at its broadest point, all together it covers 605 sq km. The name of the lake was got from a Tibetan word Bang gong that means a narrow and enchanted lake. This lake is Asia’s largest brackish lake.
A unique feature of the lake is that it does not remains blue throughout the year or even a day. As the day progresses, rather it changes colors from azure to deep  blue to green and grey too. During the winter lake freezes completely despite the water is being saline. Winter turns the landscape of Pangong into a shimmering and snowy extravaganza.

The lake acts as an important breeding ground for a variety of birds including a number of migratory birds. During summer, the Bar-headed goose, brown headed gull,and Brahmani ducks are commonly seen here. The region around the lake supports a numbers of species of wildlife including the Kaing , Marmot, blue sheep etc.

The unparalleled beauty of lake has attracts thousands of tourist every year and it is one of the best tourist destination in India. It has been a tourist attraction for a long time but the unadulterated natural beauty of the Pangong lake makes it a favorite destination among directors for shooting and filming. A number of blockbusters have been shot here, which includes amazing works such as Dil Se, 3 Idiots, Jab Tak Jaan, Sanam Re, Fugly, The Fall, among many others.
